Well, you need to have shots taken. You'll also have to be careful, they are kind of close to the middle east conflicts that are going on.

Probably the con as in many places would be tourists get charged more. So bring along an Egyptian friend the next time you are there.

Isn't that true with most countries? Or is it more that way in Egypt, compared to other countries?

I suppose it is equally the same in all countries but probably more so in other countries. In certain countries there are even signs that specifically shows different prices from residents and tourists.

If you are used to US prices, most places in the world are cheaper to travel too.

The ones that are most expensive will be places like Paris, London, Milan, Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, Moscow...

My brother would get really offended when he got charged more than the locals in very poverty-stricken countries.. I told him, that's just capitalism! If I had a stall at a bazaar and saw an obviously rich foreigner coming towards me, you can bet my prices would quickly go up. My uncle had a better solution, though; he learned their language and it endeared him to the local merchants. They'd laugh at his pronunciation but give him discounts because they appreciated the fact he was trying to learn their ways.
