Re: New travel rules starting June 1
If you travel to Canada frequently then you might want to get the NEXUS card. To qualify for this trusted traveler program you need to be a citizen or a permanent resident of the United States or Canada, lived in either or both countries for a period of at least three years and pass both criminal history and law enforcement checks.
You may not qualify if you:
* Are inadmissible to the United States or Canada under applicable immigration laws;
* Provide false or incomplete information on their application;
* Have been convicted of a criminal offense in any country;
* Have been found in violation of customs, agriculture, or immigration law;
* Will not lawfully reside in either Canada or the United States for the term of their NEXUS membership; or
* Fail to meet other requirements of the NEXUS program.
In addition, both the United States and Canada must approve your application. If denied by either country you will not be able to participate in the NEXUS program.
You can apply online on the
Global Online Enrollment System website.
