Post Finding Travel Deals
What tools do you guys use to find the best travel deals online?

Here is what I've been using:
  • Cheapflights.com: It shows some deals coming up from other sites. This is usually the first place I look.
  • SideStep.com: It searches a bunch of sites for you (e.g., airlines, Orbitz)
  • Vayama.com: For international flights. I've seen great deals here, but never on the dates I want

I usually use a couple of sites:
Kayak - travel search aggregator.
Farecast - is like Kayak but tells you whether it is the best time to buy your ticket now.
Yapta - tracks airline prices and alert you when prices drop before and after you purchase tickets.

Cool, I've never heard of this. I will check it out, thank you.

All those are good services, but be careful, don't rely on prices to stay the same. I wouldn't count on a price staying the same unless I have the tickets bought.

Very true BeatleMan the price for plane tickets as well as everything else always goes up and down depending on the demand and time of the year.

Yep, and they don't update there database, so they'll say they have tickets when they actually dont...

I've found that now amid the recession, you can find travel deals pretty much anywhere, and to any place.

United Airlines reportedly has a route to Moscow for as low as $119. American has a route from Chicago to Dublin, $147.

I've been getting tons of hot deals sent to my inbox. American is offering 50,000 bonus miles for first and business class travel between US and London and Manchester. Soliloquy, did you get in on that?

The airlines are hurting. If you've got the time and cash, go take advantage! Then come back here and share with us your adventures haha :)

Not that one; the deal I got was British Airways NYC to London for $148. Awesome deal, so we decided to go for it :) Unfortunately there's no money in the travel budget for the other amazing deals that are popping up right now; I would have loved to go to Ireland as well. We'll see what happens!
